Weather Alert

Our meetings will be cancelled if, on that day, the State or County closes roads due to weather conditions. Club officers have the option to cancel a meeting due to bad weather even if the roads aren’t officially closed. If you have questions, call Tim Rossman at 269-651-4878 or David Machan at 269-625-7232.

New in 2017

If you are a lifetime member, you will not be receiving a card each year as in the past. in 2017, you will be receiving a “lifetime membership card,” good for your lifetime. If you lose it or it’s destroyed, contact the club and we’ll issue another one. It’s good for all club activities.


Dues are $1 for children 17 years and under, and $8 for all others. We operate on a calendar year basis. Dues can be paid by mail or at meetings. If we haven’t received your dues for 2017 by April 1st, you will not receive future newsletters. You must be a paid member to vote.

To pay dues by mail, make a check out to St. Joe Valley Old Engine Association, and mail it to Judy Hollister, 3220 Detroit Road, Niles, MI 49120.

St. Joe Valley Old Engine Association 2016 Tractor Tour

Length – 44 miles
Place – Starts and ends at the SJVOEA show grounds
Date – Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016
Time – Depart 8:00 AM, scheduled return 3:55 PM

Points of interest
The Barry House Museum, Constantine, Mi. (no admission, donations accepted)
The Royal Cafe in Centreville for lunch
The Langley covered bridge
A break for ice cream at the Dairy Queen in Three Rivers

The procession will follow a lead tractor.  A schedule and turn by turn directions will be provided to each entrant for their convenience.

Driver Requirements
You do NOT need to be a club member
You do need to have a valid drivers license
You do need to register
You do need to sign a liability waiver

Tractor/Vehicle Requirements
Must be able to maintain a 10 mph average speed
Must have a safe secure seat for each passenger
Must have a slow moving vehicle sign
A rear view mirror is recommended

Will take place in front of the club food shop at the show grounds on Wednesday evening, Aug. 3rd from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM and Thursday morning Aug. 4th from 7:00 AM to 7:30AM or by prior arrangement.

July Newsletter

Come one-come all July 30 th to prepare the grounds and food shop for the show. Bring a dish to pass for lunch. If needed, we will finish up on July 31st.

This year’s show is August 5th , 6th , & 7th featuring Ford & Fordson.

The tractor tour will take place August 4th.
Registration will take place Wed. Aug. 3 rd from 6:30–7:30 PM and Aug. 4 th 7:00-7:30 AM at the food shop. Several stops are planned on the 44 mile ride. Contact Terry Bowlby (269-476- 2724) or Duane Hollister (269-683- 9537) for more information or pre-registration.

An artist will be taking donated old tractor parts and transforming them (via welding) into figures, statues, and whatever at the tractor show. These will be sold/auctioned. The artist will donate the proceeds to our club. Let’s support him and our club! See what you can “dig up” and bring those old parts as soon as possible when the show starts.

The events are held July 29-31. The parade is July 30 at 11:00. Line up is at the ball field at 10:00.
There is a pot luck dinner Saturday at the railroad park after the parade for anyone.

The Kitchen committee at the swap meet would like to thank each and everyone who helped in the kitchen at the Swap Meet. Everything went very well with so much good help. The show is coming up in August. We are asking for help at the show. If you are interested in helping please give me a call 269-651-3919 (Dolores Stemen).

Fair week is Sept 18-24. You MUST exhibit at the show in order to bring a tractor/display to the fair. Sign up at the show registration booth.

Important Upcoming Dates
Meetings will be held at the Three Rivers Lions’ Club.

  • Saturday, Oct. 17th, 7 pm // Regular monthly meeting and annual election of officers.
  • Saturday, Nov. 21st, 7 pm // Regular monthly meeting, followed by the annual fall bake sale. Bring your baked goods and craft items!
  • Saturday, Dec. 5th, 6:30 pm // Annual holiday party and potluck supper. Please bring a dish to share and your own table service. Drinks and rolls will be provided by the Club. White elephant gift exchange: if you’d like to participate, bring a gift labeled ‘man’ or ‘woman.’ If you’re bringing a child, please bring a gift with their name on it.
  • Sunday, Jan. 17th, 2:30 pm // Regular monthly meeting.

St. Joe County Grange Fair
We would like to congratulate the Club on our tractor display at the Fair. The weather was great and the tractor exhibit topped 100! On Saturday, the tractors were officially escorted during a parade around the fair grounds. It was well attended. We have had positive comments from visitors and members. Thank you!

56th Annual Show, Aug. 2016 // Next year’s featured tractor will be Ford & Fordson.

Membership Dues
Membership dues for 2016 can be paid at the meetings or by mail. Club dues are $8 for adults (18+ years of age) and $1 for children. Membership is by calendar year (Jan-Dec 2016). Renew your membership by April to continue to receive paper newsletters.

July 2014 Newsletter


Saturday, July 19, 7pm – Regular monthly meeting at the Lions Club in Three Rivers, MI. The main topic of discussion will be our Show.

Saturday, July 26, 9 am – Work day at the Jones Showgrounds. All help is appreciated. There will be a potluck around 12 pm. Please bring a dish to pass. A club meeting will be held after lunch.

Sunday, July 27 – Work day at the Showgrounds, if needed. Please call Steve Ammer (269-651-8478) or Susie Hensell (269-435-7206) before you leave home.

Thursday, July 31 – SJVOEA Tractor Tour. The tour will leave the Showgrounds no later than 7:45 am in order to arrive at the restored service station in Cassopolis by 9:30 am. The museum operator will open the station for us.

Registrations will be taken between 7-8:00 PM on Wednesday the 30th, and 7:7:30 am on Thursday the 31st. We encourage you to obtain and fill out the forms in advance. Duane Hollister will have forms available at the July 19th meeting, or call Duane at 269-683-9537, or email sjvoeajudyh@gmail.com to request electronic forms.

Please be on time. There will be a drivers’ meeting at 7:30 am on the 31st, and a follow-up upon return. For more information, please contact Duane Hollister.

Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, August 1-3 – 54th Annual Show at Boothill Ranch, in Jones, MI. This year we’ll be honoring Minneapolis Moline.

Help is needed to oversee parking at the show! Contact any club officer to volunteer. Please also confirm that you have a yellow membership card for up-to-date dues. Sign up for the St. Joe County Fair exhibit will be available at the registration booth during the Show. Deadline for sign-up is September 1st.

Sunday-Saturday, September 14-20 – We will have a display of tractors, engines, and miscellaneous antique equipment at the St. Joe County Grange Fair in Centreville, MI. See the Fair Rules and Regulations if you’re interested.

Saturday, October 18, 7 pm – Regular monthly meeting and Annual Election of Officers at the Lions Club in Three Rivers, MI. Show your support!

The Club is making up a Color Guard to raise and lower the American Flag at the Show. If you’re interested, please see a Club officer.
